Alyssa Alt

Parking Enterprise Manager, City of Colorado Springs

What first inspired you to pursue a career in this field?

After completing my Masters in Urban & Regional Planning, I worked for 5 years helping grow and expand a local carshare organization. Through that experience we had to find places to park vehicles so our membership could easily access them. Building relationships with property owners and managers, parking operators, and with the City of Denver on a pilot on-street carshare program. It was a natural transition to a more focused career in parking and mobility. I have stayed in this industry because of the amazing people I have met throughout the different sectors and the innovative technology that helps solve mobility problems.

How long have you been in the parking/mobility industry, and what changes have you seen over the years?

15ish years. Some of the biggest changes are around the use of digital mapping and the focus on data to drive (pun intended) decisions.

What advice would you give to women entering the parking or mobility industry?

Get involved in organizations or groups that you find interesting. As a relatively introverted person, it is often easier for me to join an organization with a goal to work towards. You will meet new people and learn more about the industry.

Why did you join Mobility Pathfinders?

I joined Mobility Pathfinders to champion and celebrate women leaders at all levels.

What’s one goal you’re working toward this year—professionally or personally?

Networking and mingling. This is both a professional and personal goal to put myself out there as an introvert.

What’s a book, podcast, or quote that’s inspired you lately?

The Good Hang podcast with Amy Poehler is a blast of laughter in this serious world.

What's your go-to coffee (or tea!) order during a busy day?

A latte. Double fun when the baristas create latte art!
