What first inspired you to pursue a career in this field?
Like many others, I didn't initially set out to build a career in parking. My journey began as a manager of financial operations at a university - coincidentally within the parking department. What started as a position rooted in finance quickly evolved as I was introduced to the broader scope and impact of parking management. Through the guidance of experienced parking professionals, I came to understand the complexity, innovation, and long-term career potential within the industry. That insight sparked my curiosity and motivation. What was once unexpected has grown into a fulfilling and dynamic career path.
How long have you been in the parking/mobility industry, and what changes have you seen over the years?
While I am relatively new to the parking industry, having started almost five years ago, I’ve witnessed firsthand how rapidly this field is evolving. Parking and mobility have transformed significantly, driven by advancements in technology and innovative solutions designed to address everyday challenges for users. From smart parking systems and mobile payment options to integrated mobility platforms, the industry is becoming more efficient, user-friendly, and sustainable. It’s exciting to be part of a sector that continuously adapts to changing urban needs and enhances the overall experience for communities.
What advice would you give to women entering the parking or mobility industry?
My advice would be to approach the industry with an open and curious mind. Seek out mentorship from experienced professionals who can offer guidance, share insights, and help navigate the unique challenges of this evolving field. Embrace the dynamic nature of the parking and mobility industry—its constant innovation and change present incredible opportunities for growth and impact. Most importantly, believe in your ability to contribute meaningfully and lead with confidence in a space that values diverse perspectives.
